10 tips to guarantee #techfail in your school

  1. Make the use of technology optional for teachers and students.
  2. Distribute laptops/tablets to staff at the same time or later than they are made available to students.
  3. Provide little or no Professional Development to teaching staff in the use of technology.
  4. Block YouTube.
  5. Discourage both teachers and students from using Facebook.
  6. Ensure that school computers are loaded with out of date software, and that users are unable to update or load additional applications to their machines.
  7. Discourage students from publishing their work online.
  8. Maintain paper based communication within and outside the school.
  9. Confiscate student phones if they are used during class time.
  10. Discourage students from using, or contributing to, Wikipedia.
