Morning tea conversation with colleagues about a Brethren school where the internet is banned. Some colleagues were saying “we should respect their views”. Surely, if someone is prepared to use the telephone, but bans the internet, their position is internally contradictory and should be challenged. Anyone who has the education of the students as their highest priority should work to find a way to enable students to have access to all that the Internet has to offer. The key is education in the appropriate use of the internet, not banning it altogether.
