Why I am not quitting #facebook #fb

A number of my friends have quit Facebook, and others have changed their profiles, assumed new surnames and aliases. To me this seems something of an over-reaction. A basic rule that I learnt early on in my use of the internet (nearly 20 years ago now!) was that “if you don’t want anyone else to know about it, don’t put it onlince”. If you follow this rule, then it does not matter how secure the settings are on Facebook, or any similar site.

This cartoon is worth keeping in mind:

What you really look like when you are surfing the internet
